Becoming a locksmith requires extensive training and skill, and most people don’t even think about locksmiths until they require one.

When you hire a locksmith, you want to feel safe and trust the person who is assisting to gain entry into your house or vehicle and rekeying your locks. You can sometimes feel nervous putting trust into a stranger but locksmiths endure extensive training that not only just gives them knowledge but also scrutinize the apprentices for trustworthiness.

What you didn’t know about locksmiths

To be a fully qualified locksmith you have had to complete a 4-year apprenticeship participating in theoretical and practical learning through Technical and Further Education (TAFE). During their apprenticeship locksmiths learn how to fit, pick locks and cut keys, they learn everything from electronic locking solutions, security access like alarms and security cameras as well as automotive locks, keys and safes.
